          As bicyclists, we’ve all heard of other riders who were involved in an accident with a vehicle. Perhaps you’ve even had experience with aggressive drivers or a dangerous road condition first-hand. Because these incidents are all too common, we know how important it is to wear helmets. However, rarely do we hear about an equally important need; the need to be adequately insured. Most people are unaware that many of the coverages on your automobile policy extend to provide you protection while you’re on your bicycle. Hard to imagine? Let’s look at an example. SUCCESS!!!! South Bay Bicycle Master Plan Passes in Torrance. 7 for 7!

After the South Bay Bicycle Master Plan was unanimously approved by the Torrance City Council Tuesday night it has now been successfully adopted by all seven City Councils!  Thank you Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Lawndale, Gardena and El Segundo! And most of all, a heartfelt thank you to all our supporters and advocates who wrote emails, made phone calls and showed up to the Council meetings, who volunteered to do bike counts, who attended our public workshops, who volunteered at our bike valets and gave so much of their free time to make sure this golden opportunity was seized on behalf of safer, more connected and easier bicycling for all of the South Bay!  We could not have gotten this plan embraced or approved without you. Hermosa Beach, Lawndale & Gardena Say YES to Master Bike Plan – That’s 5 of 7 Cities Now on Board!

The South Bay Bicycle Master Plan continued its impressive winning streak as three more cities have now approved the plan, each with unanimous votes. On Tuesday, October 26 the Hermosa Beach City Council included the Bicycle Master Plan in a historic night of progressive environmental and health initiatives passed.  In addition to approving the bike plan, Hermosa passed the Vitality City Livability Plan and bans on Styrofoam and smoking in public.  A strong contingent of SBBC supporters in their white t-shirts turned out and spoke on behalf of the plan. Look Who Supports the Bike Master Plan & Vitality City Livability Plan

Hundreds of people turned out to show their support for the South Bay Bicycle Master Plan and the Vitality City Livability Plan on September 24 at Moving Planet South Bay.
